Mr Lucky
Something to whet your palates before kick-off on Friday night. Mr Lucky describes itself as a "musical communiqué celebrating music of a 'jazz-centric' nature", but devotes much of its content to booze - specifically the martini. Pearls of wisdom a-plenty:
Note: There is no such thing as a vodka martini. There may
be a vodka/vermouth drink that you enjoy but it is NOT a
martini.
Shaken or stirred? Covered:
We declare that a martini is a gentle drink and that shaking
is just too violent an action for such a mysterious and
gossamer-like creation.
And a polite rejection of the quite repulsive idea of adding iced water to a martini:
If you find the end result just too strong or not to your
liking, we gently suggest that the Martini is not your drink.
Classy site.

Great site, and wonderful links.
As a long time Martini drinker, all of the above is not only true, but the rules one should live by!
My fave Martini is made with Bombay Sapphire where the glass is chilled, then swished with cold vermouth, and topped with Bombay Sapphire. Drop a couple of olives in, and you've got my drink!
In my opinion, you just described the perfect martini! Stay tuned as we search Sydney (with a possible field trip to Melbourne) for the best.
If you have a favourite martini drinking hole feel free to let us know and we'll add it to the list.
